Join the OpenDance party! This is a weekly Zoom event, open to everyone, whether you consider yourself a dancer or not. Dance in your living room – your kitchen – wherever feels good! Dance however feels good! Dance YOUR dance! Dancing together - even though we are physically apart - brings joy, fitness, community, creativity, and discovery into our lives. Dancing also increases our Happy Hormones, so come get a DOSE of joy! PRIVATE FRENCH LESSONS  VIA ZOOM

PARLEZ-VOUS FUN FRENCH? Planning a trip? Polish up your high school French? Learn a new skill during COVID? Help your child with her/his homework? Explore this beautiful language the Fun French way! In a relaxed, supportive atmosphere, we will enjoy conversation tailored to your level, interests, and needs. You will see progress fast! Marti earned the DELF (Diplôme d’Études de Langue Française) from the French government while living in France, has a teaching credential and BA in French - and years of experience teaching students of all ages.

THE MAGIC OF MIME

Do actions speak louder than words? This workshop presents the spontaneity and expressiveness of mime, with techniques from both Western and Eastern traditions. Areas of study can include: character development, illusions, physical training, mask and makeup, improvisation, and performance techniques. A presentation is often the finale of longer workshops.

FUNNY BUSINESS: THE ART OF CLOWN

In this workshop, for adults as well as children, participants discover a unique clown persona, physically express character and reaction, use everyday objects as comic props, improvise, and learn classic clown routines. Additional topics are: make-up and costumes, and creating material for performance. Longer workshops can culminate in a final show.

CHINESE ANIMAL CHI GUNG

This invigorating, fun, non-impact class is recommended for people of all ages and levels of movement experience. The exercises combine the elegance of dance, the concentration of t’ai chi, and the playfulness of mime. Inspired by animal and human archetypes, they were developed by Hua Tuo, the father of Chinese medicine. Some are beautiful and powerful, others are animated, even comical - a dynamic moving meditation, enhancing health and vitality.

INVITING THE MUSE: CREATIVITY WORKSHOP

This introduction to many forms of creative expression draws from different movement, voice, and visual arts techniques. These explorations form the basis for experimentation and collaboration, to uncover new avenues of personal expression. The emphasis is on fun, freedom, and spontaneity in an atmosphere of adventure, discovery, and support.

MIME AS A TEACHING TOOL:
AN ARTIST-EDUCATOR COLLABORATION

Children learn with their minds, bodies, and all their senses. This unique approach helps students to experience and inhabit a subject with their imaginations and their whole beings. Often presented with a specialist in the chosen subject, exercises give students the chance to physicalize the information which they are learning. For example, if they study space travel, and learn illusions of flying and slow motion movement, they can “become” astronauts floating in their own imagined space capsule. Any subject can come to life in this way!

MIME FOR THE CLASSROOM: WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

Looking for a new, creative teaching tool? This class presents skills which educators – from pre-school through 5th grade levels – can use to enhance classroom activities and specific subjects. Included in the training are illusions, character expression, body awareness, improvisation, and movement vocabulary. Imagination, physical expression, and spontaneity are emphasized in a circle of support and fun.
